Meja Örtengren, Stanford University2024-25 Division I WGCA Freshman of the Year Presented by StrackaLine Örtengren finished in the top-10 in every tournament she played in during her first year, including a tie for 10th place at the NCAA Championships. She claimed her first tournament win at the San Diego State Classic where she not only won by eight strokes, which is the largest win in program history, but also tied a school record with her round of 62 (-10). Kiara Romero, University of Oregon2023-24 Division I WGCA Co-Freshman of the Year Presented by StrackaLine Kiara Romero finished in the top-10 in six of the 10 tournaments she played in during her first year, including a tie for sixth place at the NCAA Championship. She claimed two individual victories, finishing first in her collegiate debut at the Annika Intercollegiate and at the San Diego State Classic. The San Jose, California native shattered Oregon’s single-season scoring average record with a 70.84 mark across 31 rounds of stroke play and broke the program record for single-season birdies with 18.
Paula Martín Sampedro, Stanford University2023-24 Division I WGCA Co-Freshman of the Year Presented by StrackaLine Paula Martín Sampedro ended her freshman campaign with an adjusted scoring average of 68.3 and finished in the top-10 in all but one tournament during the season. She placed third at both the NCAA Cle Clum Regional and the NCAA Championship and helped lead Stanford to the NCAA team title. Karisa Chul-Ak-Sorn, Iowa State University2022-23 Division I WGCA Co-Freshman of the Year Presented by StrackaLine Chul-Ak-Sorn finished her freshman campaign, turning in one of the best seasons in school history. Her 70.56 stroke average is the best in school history, topping teammate Taglao Jeeravivitaporn's 72.11 from last season. In 10 events this season, Chul-Ak-Sorn finished with six top-five finishes. She finished fifth at the Big 12 Championship, while she won the Mountain View Intercollegiate in record-setting fashion. Her 191 over 54-holes tied the NCAA record at 25-under par. Her 62 in the second round was the lowest score in Iowa State history and just the 12th round in NCAA women's golf history of 61 or 62.
Lottie Woad, Florida State University2022-23 Division I WGCA Co-Freshman of the Year Presented by StrackaLine Woad was the ACC Freshman of the Year and an All-ACC Honoree in 2023. She was the individual champion and led Florida State to the team championship at the 2023 Florida State Match Up at the Seminole Legacy and finished as the individual co-champion at the Ivy Intercollegiate. Woad finished her freshman season with a 71.06 stoke average – the fourth lowest in school history. Her stroke average is ranked as the second lowest career average in school history. Rose Zhang, Stanford University2021-22 Division I WGCA Freshman of the Year Presented by StrackaLine Zhang, a native of Irvine, California, became Stanford’s second individual National Champion, finishing with a 72-hole score of 282 (-6) to claim the title. The freshman’s fourth title of the season came after she finished runner-up at both the Pac-12 Championship and the NCAA Stanford Regional. Rachel Heck, Stanford University2020-21 Division I Freshman of the Year Presented by StrackaLine Heck, a native of Memphis, Tennessee, became Stanford's first individual National Champion, finishing with a 72-hole score of 280 (-8) to claim the title. It was the freshman’s sixth title of the season, which at the time was already tied for fourth-most in a career in school history, and she became just the third collegiate woman to win her Conference, Regional and National titles in the same season.
