WGCA Announces Remaining 2024-25 Division III Award Winners

CORAL SPRINGS, Florida (June 6, 2025) – The Women’s Golf Coaches Association has announced the remaining 2024-25 student-athlete and coaches awards for Division III Women’s Collegiate Golf. The Division III PING WGCA Player of the Year, Division III Golf Pride WGCA Assistant Coach of the Year, and the Division III Jackie Steinmann WGCA National Coach of the Year Presented by Golf Pride were awarded following play at the NCAA Championships, while additional student-athletes were named to the WGCA All-American Teams based on their finish at the NCAA Championships. Division III PING WGCA Player of the Year
Alison Takamiya, George Fox University

Alison Takamiya collected five tournament wins during the 2024-25 season and finished in the top four in all but one event. She captured the Northwest Conference individual title before going on to tie for third place at the NCAA Championship. The Honolulu, Hawaii native is the first player to claim back-to-back player of the year honors since 2008.

Division III Jackie Steinmann WGCA National Coach of the Year Presented by Golf Pride 
Liz Fernandes, Emory University

The Emory University women’s golf team placed in the top three in all but two tournaments played throughout the season. The Eagles collected five tournament victories, including the NCAA Championship where they set a new national record with a four-day score of 1168 (+16).

Division III Golf Pride WGCA Assistant Coach of the Year
Bill Kangas, Williams College

Bill Kangas helped lead Williams to five top three finishes, including three tournament victories. Kangas served as the team’s interim head coach during the fall season, where the Ephs broke the school record for both 18-hole and 36-hole scores to win the Polar Bear Shootout.
